UVa Wireless Network
Coverage Across Grounds
- Wireless access is widely available throughout buildings around the University Grounds (see table below).
- New access points are added based on input from the faculty advisory committee for wireless technology, feedback from students, and departments with the availability of project-based internal funding. New buildings have wireless networking built in.
- You may request UVa wireless service in a place you believe has been overlooked. Personal Access points are not allowed in UVa buildings. The only exception to this is if written permission is obtained from ITS Communications & Systems.
- Due to hospital interference concerns, 802.11a is not available in the School of Medicine areas of the medical center. School of Medicine wireless access is managed by ITS; Health System Computing Services (HSCS) manages the other medical center locations.
