There are many books and web sites that offer tips for effective videoconferencing. Just a few include:

A Google search will yield many others.

Of all the tips, a very common one is Don't Wear Stripes! Pay attention to what the news anchors wear on camera -- they choose solid colors and non-noisy accessories.
