University Telephone System

Conference Phones

The University phone system supports both analog and VoIP conference phones.

Analog Conference Phones

Departments wishing to use analog conference phones can buy the phone from the UVA Marketplace or the vendor of your choice, and then request activation of an analog line via the Service Request Catalog. There are several companies such as Polycom, Konftel, ClearOne, Revolabs that offer a variety of analog conference phones. Prices vary based on availability of features like display/non-display, expandable/non-expandable (microphones), wireless/wired. Wireless models such as the Polycom SoundStation2W provide the freedom and flexibility to conference without cords up to 150 feet (45-meters) from the base station. Note: ITS does not endorse nor provide support for any of these products—those mentioned above are purely listed as examples.

VoIP Conference Phones

Departments wishing to use VoIP conference phones can request via the Service Request Catalog. They should not be bought from the marketplace.

Compared to the Analog conference phones, the VoIP conference phones provide HD Voice capability. They also provide softkey similar to the VVX phones that are helpful in activating features like transfer and conference. Two models are offered. The Polycom SoundStation IP 5000 and the Polycom SoundStation IP 7000.
