UVa Microsoft Agreements

Discounted Microsoft Software for the UVa Community

Determine Eligibility & How to Get Software

UVa has made agreements with Microsoft to allow the UVa community to obtain Microsoft products at a discount (Campus and Select Agreements). Use this wizard to find the best way to get Microsoft software depending on your classification and needs.

You can also use the tables on the “How to Obtain Your Microsoft Software” page to aid you in learning how to get your discounted UVa Microsoft products.

The software I want is for:

a University-owned computer*
a personally-owned computer (for employee work at home or student personal use)

*Your department may have a procedure for installing Office and Windows. Check with your department's LSP, if you have one. (See the departmental LSP list ».)

I want this software to run on:

a Windows computer
a Macintosh computer

My position at the University is:

state-funded
locally funded by Semester at Sea, UVIMCO, Miller Center, or SWVHEC
locally funded by an organization not listed above

Don't know? Ask your organization's fiscal administrator. If you are an employee of the Medical Center (and not the School of Medicine), contact the HSCS Help Desk at 924-5334 for software requests.

I am:

a degree-seeking student (includes BIS)
a non degree-seeking student (e.g., SCPS, certificate programs)
a UVa employee

As a non degree-seeking student, you are not covered by UVa Microsoft software license Agreements. You can still buy Microsoft and other software from Cavalier Computers at standard educational pricing. And if you are also affiliated with the University as a faculty or staff member, you can still qualify for special pricing—just re-run this wizard from the top again, answering as an employee.

You are eligible to buy Microsoft software at a discount under the Microsoft Select Agreement. See Prices and Ordering Instructions.

You are eligible to buy a Microsoft product that is not Windows or Office (e.g., Visio, Project, a server operating system, etc.) at a discount under the Microsoft Select Agreement. See Prices and Ordering Instructions.

Since this is a personally-owned computer, for a product other than Windows or Office (e.g., Visio, Project), you will need to buy the retail academic version of the application.

Pricing: free download. (You must already have Windows on your computer so this is only an upgrade.)
