SAS Enterprise Guide Version 4.1

Installation Instructions for SAS Enterprise Guide, Version 4.1

SAS 9.1.3 or SAS 8.2 must be installed on your machine before installing SAS Enterprise Guide 4.1. SAS may or may not be licensed under the EAS license to work with either of these SAS versions.

Administrator privilege: Requiring that the installer have administrator privilege ensures that SAS 9.1 Foundation can be completely and safely installed.

NOTE: All programs, including virus-scanning programs, should be closed before beginning the installation.

These installation instructions are intended for users at UVa who are installing SAS Enterprise Guide on a Windows PC.

Step 1. Insert the CD labeled Systems Requirements Wizard for SAS Enterprise Guide.

Step 2. Select English and click OK.

Step 3. You will be reminded to exit all programs and disable virus scanning before continuing. Do so, and click on Next.

Step 4. Follow the instructions on the screen for updating your system. If no updates are required then, click on Finish.

Step 5. Eject the CD and insert the CD for Enterprise Guide 4.1.

Step 6. Leave English selected and click OK.

Step 7. You are again reminded to exit all programs and disable virus protection programs before proceeding. Once that is done, click on Next.

Step 8. Follow the directions on your screen. You should not need to change the default destination location. Click on Next.

Step 9. You may need to wait several minutes for installation. Do not run any programs while the product is installing. Various other screens appear during the installation. These require no user interaction.

Step 10. If you register .SAS files for use with Enterprise Guide, then clicking on SAS files will cause the programs to start within Enterprise Guide rather than SAS. This configuration is a matter of personal choice and may be modified later on.

Other file types may be associated with programs other than SAS. Here files ending with the .SSD extension are associated with Snagit Studio. How you choose to associate these files depends upon your individual needs and what programs you use most frequently.

Step 11. When prompted, click on Finish.

You may now use Enterprise Guide from the Windows SAS Menu.
