Getting a Research Computing Account
Research computing accounts provide access to the high performance computing platforms and software that ITS maintains and are meant to be used for computation- and memory-intensive computing jobs. Depending on the platform, serial and parallel programs can be run using compiled code written in Fortran or C/C++. Programs written using problem solving-environments such as Matlab, Mathematica, Ansys, and SAS can also be run on these platforms.
Research computing accounts are restricted to faculty, staff, and graduate students. An undergraduate who can demonstrate the need for accessing a high performance platform and who has a faculty sponsor can also obtain an account. Any user requesting a research computing account must already have a UNIX account on the blue.unix cluster and should be familiar with working in the UNIX environment from the command line.
Research computing accounts allow users to access the ITS Linux clusters.
If you already have an account on any of these platforms, then your account is also enabled to access all of them. If you have not previously obtained an account on an ITS research computing platform, you should submit a request for a research computing account.
