ESRI GIS at UVa

ArcGIS 9.3 Installation Instructions

General Information

ArcGIS 9.3 Desktop consists of one DVD. If you are an advanced user, you may also obtain ArcGIS 9.3 Workstation which will allow you to do command line programming. In general, however, the ArcGIS 9.3 Desktop will meet all of your GIS needs. ArcGIS does not work on Macintosh computers. If your computer does not read DVDs, you must use ArcGIS 9.1.

You must be connected to the UVa network in order to use ArcGIS 9.3. If you are trying to use ArcGIS 9.3 from an off-Grounds location, you must install UVa Anywhere. Alternatively, for those working in the field, or without a connection to the Internet, faculty and staff only may purchase a Dongle for $40. This key sentinel and the license file sent to you after purchase function as a license manager (additional instructions for using a dongle).
