ITS Announcement/Removal of Application Software from ITS UNIX/Linux Mounted File Systems [Jan. 8, 2015]

This was originally scheduled for Dec. 17, 2014.

On Jan. 8, 2015, ITS will remove software applications (like MATLAB, IDL, SAS, and SPSS) from the ITS file systems which can be mounted on UNIX and Linux systems. These applications reside in the /common and /apps directories and will be deleted; symbolic links to applications currently in the /uva/bin directory will also be removed.

UNIX/Linux utilities and other packages, including whois, hdquota, and perl, will be kept on these file systems.
