I deleted a file from OneDrive for Business. Can I get it back?
Yes. OneDrive for Business includes a Recycle Bin that can help you recover items that were accidentally deleted. If you're using the sync client and you delete a file using Windows Explorer, the file can be recovered using the Windows Recycle Bin, which is the easiest method. If you're not using the sync client, or if you delete a file/folder that isn't being synced, you can recover the file using the OneDrive for Business Recycle Bin. To access the OneDrive for Business Recycle bin, log into the O365 portal and select OneDrive from the App Launcher. In the left-hand navigation bar click Recycle Bin and you should see a list of deleted files. From there you can select one or more files or folders and restore them to their original location by clicking the Restore button. See the screenshot below. Files are available to restore for up to 90 days from the date they were deleted. After 90 days they are removed from the Recycle Bin and can no longer be restored.

I deleted more than one file from OneDrive for Business. I made a total mess of things. Can I get my files back? Help!
Help is on the way! Microsoft recently (Feb. 2018) announced a new feature called Files Restore that allows you to easily restore your own OneDrive to a previous point in time. You can see more info about the feature here:

ITS now has this functionality in our production tenant, which means anyone with ITS-provided Office 365 OneDrive can use it. This could be a good way to also recover from ransomware/cryptolocker, or an accidental deletion of a folder or group of files. I have OneNote notebooks saved on my computer and I'd like to move them to OneDrive so I can access them from anywhere. How can I do that?
OneNote has a built-in function to move notebooks to OneDrive. First make sure you have your O365 account configured in OneNote. Then select the notebook you want to move, click on File and then Share, select your OneDrive (it may already be selected), click Browse and select a folder, then supply a name and hit the Move button as shown in the screenshot below:

How do I access my OneDrive files?
There are several ways to access your files in OneDrive.
  • The Microsoft Office desktop applications have built-in support for OneDrive. If you have your Office 365 account configured in the Office applications, you should see OneDrive as one of the locations you can use for opening/saving files. In order to open a file from OneDrive in this scenario, simply open one of the Office applications, choose Open, select OneDrive — University of Virginia, and the navigate to the file you want to open.
  • You can access OneDrive with a web browser by going to https://portal.office.com and logging in with your Eservices credentials. Once you are logged in, you will see the Office 365 App Launcher which shows a series of tiles similar to the Windows start menu. There will be tiles for OneDrive as well as the Office Online applications. Clicking OneDrive will take you to your OneDrive where you will see all your files. You can open Office documents straight from this interface by simply clicking on them. They will open in the Office Online apps automatically.
  • You can install the OneDrive for Business sync client. See the instructions in the FAQ: How do I get the OneDrive for Business sync client? The sync client will provide access to a local copy of the files via Windows Explorer. Any changes to the local copies will be synced to OneDrive for Business, and if you update a file in OneDrive, the local copy will be updated as well.
Do I need the OneDrive for Business sync client?
Many people may find that they do not need the OneDrive for Business sync client, even if they previously used the Box sync client. Microsoft Office desktop applications include built-in support for OneDrive for Business, meaning that from Microsoft Word you can open and save files directly from/to OneDrive for Business without any additional software installed. In addition, when accessing OneDrive for Business on the web, documents can be opened directly in Office Online. Taken together, these features may eliminate the need for the sync client in many situations.
How do I get the OneDrive for Business sync client?
If you have Windows 10 or Office 2016 installed, then you already have the sync client and just need to configure it for your Office 365 account. See these pages for some more information about installing and configuring the OneDrive for Business sync client:
I have the sync client installed, but I'm not seeing updates in my sync folder.
Check to see if the onedrive.exe process is running, or if you see the icon for OneDrive in the notification area. If not, open https://portal.office.com and go to OneDrive in the launcher, and when OneDrive opens, click Sync and then sign in when prompted.
How can I tell which account my Office applications are using (if any)?

In the Office 2016 apps you can see what account is being used by the Office applications by clicking on File and then Account. This will bring up an account screen like the one below that will allow you to manage your account. Most office apps will also show you the account in the upper right side of the screen near the window controls.

In the Office 2016 for Mac apps, you manage your account in the Open/Save dialogs. If the local save dialog comes up, you can click the “Online Locations” button which will bring up a dialog like the one in the screenshot below. There you can click on the button in the upper left to either sign in, see what account is being used, or sign out.

Can I get/buy more than the 5 TB of storage space?
At this time, only 5 TB of storage space is available with OneDrive at UVA.
How can I tell how much OneDrive for Business space I have used or is remaining?
With 5 TB of storage space available most people will never have to worry about OneDrive for Business space, but if you do need to know how much space you have used or have left, there's an easy way to find out. Log in to the O365 Portal and click OneDrive in the App Launcher. In the upper right, click the gear icon, and then click "Site settings". On the Site settings page, click Storage Metrics in the right-hand column (see screenshot below). On the Storage Metrics page, you can see your total used/available space in the upper right, as well as detailed information about the amount of space used by each folder and file.

I have a UVA-owned iPad. I installed the OneDrive mobile app and it prompted me to install one of the Office mobile apps. But I cannot use the Office mobile app, in this case Word, to edit documents. It says that our Office 365 subscription does not include this feature. When will I be able to do that?
Using any of the Office mobile apps to edit files requires an Office 365 Pro Plus (desktop apps) license, which is part of a later work stream. This functionality will be rolled out later this spring.
Can I save from Office Online to something other than OneDrive?
No, Office Online and OneDrive are integrated together such that the Office Online apps can only save to OneDrive.
I'm a retiree. Can I use OneDrive?
Retirees who choose to continue to maintain their email mailbox with ITS are not licensed to use OneDrive (or any of the other tools like Groups and Teams) after leaving UVA. Some retirees may initially see some of these options being "enabled" for their accounts; these features will subsequently be turned off upon ongoing account and licensing reviews. Note: Retirees from Darden/Law/McIntire need to contact their respective help desks.
What happens to my files in OneDrive if I leave UVA or retire?
As an employee, when you leave UVA, you'll no longer have access to your UVA Office 365 account and products. OneDrive's files/folders, which are University records, will be removed as part of an automated de-provisioning process for faculty and staff. Before departing, move documents you want to keep from OneDrive. If you ever return to the University, your UVA computing ID will again be your UVA Office 365 login, but your OneDrive data will not be stored or retrievable.
