Hardware Firewall Options

Departments

A departmentally-purchased and -maintained hardware firewall cannot be allowed to partition off a section of the UVa network. However, a firewall is permitted between the network port and the server itself.

If more than one server needs protection, ITS offers several solutions. To schedule a consultation concerning ITS's firewall or VPN services, please email ITS Network Systems.

Servers Under Contract with ITS

ITS maintains a firewall service which is a free option for servers under contract with ITS Microsystems or ITS UNIX Systems a provision for housing the server in an ITS Data Center.

Any security provisions maintained as part of that contract must be followed for the configuration and administration of the server.
