Audio-Streaming Tests

Test On-Grounds Audio Stream

Use these links to test audio streaming on a network segment on Grounds.

If you are using Internet Explorer or a recent version of Opera/Firefox/Safari you should see an embedded version of the Windows Media Player below. It will automatically load and play the live on grounds audio stream from WTJU (on grounds) . It takes around 20 seconds for the audio stream to start.

If you are using any other browser you may just see a blank.

Use the following link to start an external version of Windows Media Player with any of these browsers:

See note about wireless service and some VPN connections below.

Wireless: The hardware that provides wireless service does not provide multicast connectivity. The Windows Media Player may be confused by the combined multicast/unicast characteristics of the standard on-Grounds stream and will not play it. The best alternative for an on-grounds wireless user is to use the off-grounds stream, which is unicast and has the added advantage of being a lower bandwidth. (A laptop's audio system will do just as well with the lower bandwidth signal anyway.)

Some VPN connections: The majority of VPN connections use "split tunnel mode". This is the default. A very small number of users are set up for "full tunnel mode". Those connections will not access the multicast audio stream due to equipment limitations. So if you are one of the very few folks who connect using a full tunnel VPN, you cannot access the multicast stream. The on-Grounds audio feed should instead offer the unicast stream.
