Configuring Opera with the MMS Protocol

The Opera browser must have the MMS protocol added to the standard configuration in order to start up the Windows Media Player gracefully.

Note: The following instructions are based on version 10.62 for the PC.

  1. Pull down the Menu (top left) in the main browser window. Choose Settings -> Preferences.
    Opera Preference Settings
  2. A Preferences window will be displayed.
Choose Advanced-> Programs and then click on Add.
    Opera Program Preferences
  3. A Protocols window will appear. Type mms in the Protocol field. The information in the"Open with Default Application" field will be updated to display the path to the default media player defined for your operating system. If this is the application you want to use, check the radio button beside that option.
    Add Opera Protocol
  4. If it is not what you wish to use, click the button beside "Open with other application" field, then click Choose and navigate to the application you want to use.
