Mailing List Services

Academic Class Mailing Lists

Class List Options

There are two options for emailing entire rosters of academic classes at the University of Virginia. You may use UVaCollab or create a Sympa mailing list for your class.

UVaCollab

Faculty, staff, and students at the University of Virginia are eligible for UVaCollab accounts. Many instructors find UVaCollab's Email Archive tool easier to use than a Sympa mailing list and UVaCollab also affords greater compliance with federal regulations regarding privacy of class rosters. To learn more about emailing with UVaCollab, please visit the website and select the link for Help; then choose Email Archive to find documentation on UVaCollab and its email tools.

Sympa mailing list

Instructors can also use Sympa mailing lists. To create a Sympa mailing list for a class, please use the Sympa Web interface.
