ITS Departmental Computing Support
Local Support Associate (LSA) Program
LSA Program Description
The Local Support Associate (LSA) Program is designed to provide front-line technical support staff with knowledge of the University of Virginia's computing environment, so they can provide effective computing support within their department. LSAs include any staff member identified by a Local Support Partner (LSP) or supervisor as providing some type of computer support.
Opportunities for Current LSAs
LSA Professional Development Series
The series offers brown-bag lunch sessions on topics of interest to LSAs in a comfortable, informative learning environment where cross-departmental relationships are established and networking partnerships can be formed.
Office Technology Conference (ITS Training)
All office professionals who use and value technology in the workplace will benefit from the annual Office Technology Conference. The conference, which explores technology issues at the University, is open to all administrative faculty, managers, supervisors and administrative staff, including technical and computer professionals.
For specific information on the next Office Technology Conference (OTC), visit the ITS Training Services/OTC website.

Prospective LSAs
The LSA program's original criteria included a recommendation from your department's LSP (Local Support Partner) and your supervisor, and “Computing Survival Skills” certification. As of March 2011, ITS is currently assessing the need for Computing Survival Skills (CSS) and how best to use limited resources to offer LSA training for departments. Please email itc-survival@virginia.edu if you would like to be notified when CSS training becomes available again.
