Customized Solutions for Data Management Needs
The Departmental Applications Development (DAD) group was formed in the spring of 1998. With the University's increasing emphasis on research came an inherent need for a variety of technology services. Since 1998, this need has manifested itself in the creation by DAD of customized applications and specialized programming and has extended to areas well beyond the research arena including academic, health system, and core business departments.
Services
DAD specializes in an individualized approach to technology needs, tailored specifically to each situation. DAD's services are provided with a deep understanding of the University's technology environments and business practices.
In support of departmental and grant-funded initiatives, Departmental Applications Development offers:
Software Consulting and Development
- Custom application programming for desktop systems. The group can create new software for departments, or provide additional help to maintain or extend existing application software.
- Specialized Web application development, with preferred technologies. For example, if clients prefer a simpler, scripted development platform, such as Microsoft Access, the DAD team can do this.
- Database design, enhancement, and maintenance; database applications and database access via Internet and Web applications.
- Report writing from new or existing databases.
- Website development for grant-funded initiatives.
- Customized surveys, using Web forms and data collection.
Project Management/Consulting
- Technical analysis, advice/recommendations, and implementation/integration services for customers as they determine the best technological approach to resolving special project issues. DAD can help with the evaluation and implementation of specialized research and business vendor products.
- Advice on integrating systems to improve customer workflow, with both new and existing software.
- Support. After delivering the solutions, the group is available to support the system when changes are required.
