CrashPlan is a cloud-based backup service. After installing the CrashPlan software,
a service runs in the background and constantly backs up selected data. In the event of
a problem such as a computer crash or virus, data can be easily restored to a previous
point in time, or recovered to a different computer. By default, CrashPlan automatically
backs up commonly used locations in the user profile folder such as the Documents folder.
Additional locations can be added, if desired. CrashPlan is only intended for backing
up data files and should not be used for other kinds of files (such as system files)
as this can adversely affect backup functionality.
