Note: Numbers 1-9 preceeded by * or # are the codes to key when using an analog telephone. If you are using a ROLMphone, you can depress the keys listed in CAPITAL letters, i.e. FORWARD or PICK. Both ROLMphones and analog telephones contain a flash button.

Automatic camp-on
Allows you to stay on the line to wait for a busy extension.
  1. Listen to a busy signal until it stops.
  2. Stay on the line until your party answers.
  3. To cancel, hang up.
Call forwarding
Allows you to have your calls ring at another phone.
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press FORWARD or #9.
  3. Dial 5-digit extension.
  4. Hang up.
When you call forward an extension, its line light will flicker as your visual reminder of the forwarding.
To cancel:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press FORWARD or ##9.
  3. Hang up.
Note: A member of your com group can override call forwarding by dialing your com group number.
Call pickup
Allows you to answer a ringing phone or a call on "hold" from your own extension as long as you know the other extension number.
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press PICK or *3.
  3. Dial 5-digit number of ringing extension or the extension on "hold".
Callback camp-on
Calls you back with a long ring when the busy extension becomes free. This feature is available only to internal callers.
  1. Listen for busy signal.
  2. Press CAMP or FLASH #1. (You have 7 seconds to enter FLASH #1. Otherwise, you will perform an automatic camp-on.
  3. Hang up.
To cancel:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press CAMP or ##1.
  3. Hang up.
Calling card call
Dial 9 and follow the instructions printed on the back of the card.
Collect calls
(Processed by AT&T) Dial 10 + area code + 7 digit number. Ignore the request to input information for a calling card. You will then be prompted for card type and billing information.
Com groups
Allows you to call the members of your com group with abbreviated dialing. Obtain your department's com group information from your department's Telephone Counselor. Use the com group number in place of the 5-digit extension for any feature except call pickup. Small com group consists of 2 to 10 people. The com group number is 6x. Large com group consists of 11 to 99 people. The com group number is 6xx. To make a call to someone in your com group:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Dial 6x or 6xx.
  3. You call a phone using a com group number you can override that phone's call forwarding.
Conference call
Allows you to have up to 8 parties in a conversation; two of the 8 may be external parties. Call the first person and then use the steps below to add each new party:
  1. Press FLASH.
  2. Dial new extension or 9 + local number or 8 + FAC + 1 + long-distance number.
  3. Press CONF or FLASH *4 to connect each party.
  4. To reconnect to conference if call is refused, busy, or isn't answered, press CONNECT.
Connect
Allows you to connect to an automatic camped-on call, a newly-available line, alternate between parties, or reconnect with a transferred call. Whenever your call waiting (Call WTG) light is on, you may press CONNECT or FLASH *1 to speak with the waiting caller. Press CONNECT again to toggle back.
Consultation call
Allows you to talk privately with a second party while the first party is waiting on temporary hold. During a call:
  1. Press FLASH.
  2. Dial 5-digit extension number, 9 + local number, or 8 + FAC + 1 + long-distance number.
  3. To reconnect with the first party, press CONNECT or FLASH *1.
Credit card call
Dial 9 and follow the instructions printed on the back of the card.
Dial tone
You can get dial tone in two ways:
  1. Lift handset.
  2. Leave handset down (ROLMphones only).
  3. Press line key.
  4. To hang up, press the line key again.
Flagging bad trunks
If you have a bad connection on a call that has been placed to or received from either a local or long-distance number, then during the conversation:
  1. Key FLASH + *563.
  2. Return to conversation.
When the conversation is complete call 4-8600 to report the time the problem was experienced, the extension number used for the call, and the external number that was involved.
Flash
When you press FLASH, three things happen: you get dial tone, your first call is put on temporary hold, and your call waiting light comes on (ROLMphones only). After you press FLASH, you may access a feature or dial a second party.
If you have an analog wall phone that does not have a flash button, depress the switchhook for one second.
Group pickup
Allows you to answer a ringing phone in your pickup group from your own extension number without knowing the other extension number.
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press PICK two times or **3.
Help
If you have a problem with your line, your instrument, or your data connection, please contact ROLM Repair at 4-8600. This line is answered 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
Hold
Allows you to hang up a line temporarily, either to take a call on another line or to attend to another matter, without disconnecting your caller. When you put a call on hold, the line light will blink.
  1. Press HOLD or FLASH *9.
  2. Hang up.
To reconnect:
  1. Press line button of call being held (indicated by blinking line light).
  2. Pick up receiver.
Intercom call (ROLMphones only)
Allows you to transmit your call directly through the speaker to a member of your com group. To make an intercom call:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Key in FLASH **6.
  3. Dial com group number.
  4. Listen for high-low beep tone.
  5. Begin conversation.
To receive an intercom call:
  1. Listen for high-low beep tone.
  2. Reply in speakerphone mode or lift receiver (ROLMphone 120 users must lift the receiver to reply).
Long-distance call
For direct dial calls to the U.S. and Canada, dial 8 + your FAC/PIN + 1 + area code + the seven-digit number of the party you are calling. For international calls, dial 8 + your FAC/PIN + 011 + country code + city code + local telephone number of the party you are calling.
Messaging waiting light
If you have PhoneMail, the Msgwt light will come on when you have a message. If you wish to program the Msgwt button you must have both PhoneMail and station speed; otherwise your msgwt button is "dead".
Pickup
Allows you to answer a ringing phone or a call on "hold" from your own extension as long as you know the other extension number.
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press PICK or *3.
  3. Dial 5-digit number of ringing extension or the extension on "hold".
Privacy
Privacy prevents automatic camp-on tones from interrupting your call. Privacy does not prevent someone from camping on to your line automatically. It also prevents someone with your line extension on their phone from entering your conversation. Prior to making a call:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Key in #2.
  3. Dial the 5-digit extension, 9 + the local number, or 8 + FAC + 1 + long-distance number.
During a conversation:
  1. Key in FLASH #2.
  2. Continue conversation.
Repertory dialing (ROLMphones only)
Allows you to set a repdial (programmable) button to dial a number, to perform a feature, or to create a sequence combining phone numbers and features. The repdial buttons are the unlabeled buttons on your phone. For example, one repdial button could be used to forward your phone to a specified extension. To set up or change a repdial button to perform a command sequence:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press SET or *566.
  3. Press desired REPDIAL button.
  4. Key in digits and feature buttons (or feature codes) for desired sequence. (To enter a delay to allow time for processing, press HOLD).
  5. Hang up or press line button in use.
To make a repdial call:
  1. Select line button.
Rings for incoming calls
You can change your ROLMphone's ring tone to any one of eight tones.
  1. Two short rings indicates an external call.
  2. One short ring designates an internal call.
  3. One long ring signifies a com group call or camp-on callback.
Ring tone change
You can change your ROLMphone's ring tone to any one of eight tones.
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Key in *572, then single digits (1-8).
  3. Hang up. The last digit keyed in is your phone's ring tone.
Save and repeat
Allows you to "save" a number you have dialed so you can "redial" the number later simply by pressing the SAVE/REPEAT button again. To save an extension or outside number:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Dial 9 + local number, 8 + FAC + long-distance number, or 5 digit extension.
  3. Press SAVE/REPEAT or FLASH #4 during the conversation or while you hear a busy signal or the ring.
  4. Hang up.
To call your saved number:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press SAVE/REPEAT or #7.
Station speed call (Available with certain classes of service)
Allows you to program up to 10 single-digit codes for your frequently called numbers. You can then dial one number to make an outside call. To set up a speed call code:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press STA SPEED twice or ##3.
  3. Key in station speed code (0-9).
  4. Key in 5-digit extension, 9 + local number, or 8 + FAC + long-distance number.
  5. Hang up.
To make a station speed call:
  1. Get dial tone.
  2. Press STA SPEED or #3.
  3. Dial speed code number (0-9).
Transfer
Allows you to transfer a call to another extension.
  1. Press TRANSFER or FLASH *7.
  2. Dial 5-digit extension, 9 + local number, or 8 + FAC + long-distance number.
  3. Announce caller.
  4. Hang up.
Avoid Disconnects: When you lift your handset to use your ROLMphone you do not need to press the line key. If you press a line key during a conversation you will disconnect the call.
