Telephone Service Problems
Who to Call If You Have a Telephone Problem
Students should dial 924-6879 for residence hall telephone problems and Personal Identification Number (PIN) requests. Faculty and staff should dial 924-4148 for information or questions about Communication Service Requests (CSRs), directory listings, and equipment configurations. Telephone repair service is available from Siemens/ROLM (for 924/982/243/297 University numbers) by dialing 4-8600 from a working University phone.

Response Time for Telephone Service Problems
If you are encountering a telephone system problem, please locate a working telephone and call (92)4-8600 to report the problem.
The University has contracted to outsource the day-to-day operation of the telephone system to Siemens. This contract specifies the required response time to different types of telephone system problems. If you believe that your department is not receiving the appropriate level of response from Siemens, please contact the ITS Communication Services Business Office at (92)4-4148.
Telephone service is a 24-hour per day, 365 day per year operation. Siemens will respond to telephone service failures as follows:
- Loss of service in Critical Areas (Hospital Emergency Room, Hospital Operating
Rooms, Hospital Intensive Care Unit, Patient Hospital Rooms (excluding non-Siemens provided
telephone instruments), Police Station, Operator Consoles, Emergency Ringdown telephones):
Response Time is one (1) hour or less
Additional Critical Areas are defined by individual telephone numbers. Contact ITS Communication Services at (92)4-4148 for details. - Failures resulting in the loss of the ability to place and/or receive calls: Response time is two (2) hours or less
- All other failures: Response Time is 24 hours or less excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and Holidays
