Telephone Services at UVa

Getting Service

Phone Service for Students in the Residence Halls

Telephone service is not automatically provided in residence hall rooms. If service is required, the student should complete the online request form. Installation cost is $84, with a monthly charge of $31.00 for a digital line and $33.25/month for an analog line. If voicemail is requested there is a $15 installation fee and a monthly charge of $4.75. These costs will be billed to the student's account along with any other telecommunications services. For more information on services and prices, please contact the ITS Communication Services Student Customer Service representative at (434)924-6879.

Phone Service for Faculty and Staff

Faculty and staff in University offices should arrange for telephone service and repair with either a departmental contact person or a telephone counselor. Otherwise, contact ITS Communication Services, located in Carruthers Hall, via messenger mail to ITS Communication Services, P.O. Box 400196, or by calling 434-924-4148. (More information for departments - like filling out a CSR (Communication Service Request)—is available in the Managing Telephone Services in a Department section of this website.)

Faculty and staff who reside in housing provided by or through the University should contact the Housing department to determine what arrangements need to be made for telephone service in these residences; telephone service fees are not normally included in these rentals.
