The Balanced Scorecard

What is the Balanced Scorecard?

The balanced scorecard is a strategic planning and management tool that is used to align activities to the mission and vision of the organization and monitor the organization's performance against strategic goals.

Components of the Scorecard

The balanced scorecard suggests that we view the organization from four perspectives, and to develop goals and metrics relative to each of these perspectives. Below is a graphic representation of ITS's four areas.

Directions for Viewing This Graphic

As you hover over each area's goals, you will see a flyout to the right which details any objectives/strategies for that particular goal. When you hover over the "Metrics" box in each block you will see to the right, detailed metrics for that area.

A text-only version of areas, goals, objectives/strategies, and metrics is also available.
